4th SEISS Grant for Dentists

The 4th SEISS grant will be open to some taxpayers who became newly self-employed dentists in 2019/20. HMRC are in the process of sending letters to up to 100,000 of these taxpayers to ask them to complete pre-verification checks to try and reduce the number of fraudulent claims being made. If you receive one of these letters, here is what you need to know!
The pre-verification checks will ask you to confirm your identity and provide evidence of your trade. If you are one of the 100,000 you will receive a letter between early- March and mid-April notifying you that you will receive a call from HMRC within 10 working days.
On the call, HMRC will ask you to confirm your email address and agree to receive a link to a secure Dropbox. You will then have 2 days to upload one form of identity and 3 months’ worth of bank statements to demonstrate your business activity before the link expires.
HMRC has confirmed it will make 3 attempts to phone, therefore if you receive a letter, you need to ensure that HMRC holds the correct phone number for you. If your number needs to be updated, you will need to call 0800 024 1222. If HMRC is unsuccessful in reaching you, they will send a further letter.
If you receive the letter, but don’t complete the checks you will be unable to claim the grant.
